My actual hat size is somewhere between 7 1/2 and 7 5/8, which size is better for a comfortable fit
My size is 7 1/4 which would be a little too big if I were bald but I have my hair grown out and its thick. You shouldn’t buy a fitted a little too big or a little too small. A fitted should… fit.

I wear a 7 5/8 but it always cost extra b/c most places will only carry up to a 7 1/2. I’ve had a lot better luck with stretch fits, still get a clean look and very little discomfort. Price is about the same as a nice fitted.

I’d say buy it a little too big.
I own several New Era hats (the 5950 fitted ones), and I’ve learned over the years that these hats may shrink a little bit, but they sure as hell won’t stretch.
