How do I reshape a fedora hat brim?
I have a Stetson fedora (fur felt). I was on a business trip a few months ago in Memphis and it got rained on. I took it out of the box the other day and noticed that the brim was not shaped the way I want it. It looks flat in the front. I was wondering how to get that "curved-down" look that it used to have. I’ve tried steaming it, but I’m not having the luck I’d hoped….
I have a few felt hats, mostly fedoras and once in a while one needs to be shaped up a bit. Heat up a small pot of water on high. When it’s boiling hold the bent part of the hat in the steam for several seconds until it’s heated with the steam and then form it the way you want. Once it cools and dries the shape will be set. I use it on the crowns and brims of my hats. If it gets really malshaped then you may want to find a hatter who can block the hat, which shapes it to a form and may look better than forming by hand.
just pin it and leave it

I…don’t know. But try the people at http://www.thefedoralounge.com . They know pretty much everything you could ever possibly want to know about fedoras. If they can’t answer you I’ll eat my shoes.
