  • How do I easily shape my felt fedora hat?

Posted by admin on November 3rd, 2009 and filed under fedora hat | 4 Comments »

I have a really nice felt fedora hat that I have had stored for a few months and I want to wear it again but it needs shaped a little bit. Its not hard wool its actually pretty soft and supple. The crown and the brim are a little out of wack so what would be the easiest and best ways to shape my hat without hurting it or ruining it?
    thanks
how exactly am i to steam heat the hat? tea kettle?
    boiling water?
    aye?

For the steam deal… your iron should have a steam setting to it and you can put water in the iron. Do that and there should be a button to push on it that makes more steam come out then.. that should work. Or you could boil water and work the hat over the steam that is coming from the water boilin. Or get the shower going hot and wait for the water to start steaming.

Well first steam heat the hat. Make sure its to a point that you can form it with your hands and then let it air dry. It won’t ruin or damage it in any way =]

That is a good question my friend. Ummmmmm… Maybe steam it and try to shape it up and stiffen it. I don’t know for sure, just thought maybe that could help. I got a fedora hat but its more the solid keep it’s shape on it’s own kind lol.

What the hell is the other guy talking about boiling urine? WTF is wrong with some people LOL.

Well you see judge man, like normal people have an iron that can steam laying around, you could use that. Unless you got one of them goofy fancy steamers for clothes sitting around.
