Because most hardcore Republicans are gun-toating, bible-thumping, xenophobic homophobes with enormous emotional/sexual insecurity. So they don regalia (cowboy hats) to project themselves as masculine and tough when they are actually all overweight, middle-aged people without a good education and little understanding of the larger world outside their small towns and white-bred suburban enclaves. But this question had a twist, the cowboy hats. Now I thought about this at great length (all 10 seconds) and decided that they had all wished that they had done the convention in Denver like the Dems and were really trying to channel all that love and excitement all the way out to….. Minnesota. Wow, what a happening place. So there’s my theory. Now censor away. (Note hint of bitterness) References :
I KNOW!!! Honestly I have to say many of the people at the convention look dead, unoptimistic, and just scary in general. Having no minorities definitely will turn off a lot of people who want to vote for McCain. If I were a minority, it feels like I would get slurred at if I walked into that convention when I see the type of people who are there. References :

The biggest problem I have with this whole thing are all you folks talking about the plight of the minorities. White folks are now minorities, so that puts you in a different place than you are used to…or accept that you are in.
Deportation will go much further in restoring our great country’s economy than anything else – at least until the WMD are found and the war can be called off. References :
