  • What is the knitting pattern for a hat according to the Klutz knitting book?

Posted by admin on March 1st, 2010 and filed under hat | 2 Comments »

I am making a hat for someone and forgot the book at home in another state. All I know is to cast on 84 stitches, then do the stockinette stitch until it is 8 inches long, but I forgot the rest. So I was wondering if anyone else knew because I cant find it anywhere online.

I don’t know about the specific pattern you mention. I suppose that if anyone did have it they would not be able to publish it online because of copyright infringement laws. You might find the same book in a library or even a store, and you could read it over and see if that helps. Could someone at home make a copy and mail it to you? Otherwise, any similar type of hat should help. There are huge numbers of free hat patterns online, and you can see pictures if you search images. Good luck, I hope this helps.

If I’ve learned anything from the yahoo baseball section, it’s that just playing in the Majors means you automatically go to the Hall of Fame. What hat will future HOFer Corky Miller have on his Hall of Fame plaque?

I believe that the one game I remember him playing with the Twins qualifies him to have a Twins hat for sure.

I have a blue denim flop hat that had a plastic flower glued on it. I took the flower off but there is some glue left. How can I get rid of the glue?

It really depends upon the type of glue used. There are dozens of different glues that each have their own removal method. Though heat, water, and/or scraping work for most.

Why did British Naval Officers wear the same hat two different ways?

Posted by admin on February 19th, 2010 and filed under hat | 1 Comment »

Why did the British Naval Officers (1700’s, 1800’s eras) at the rank of Lieutenant and above wear the same type of hat either with the points going side-to-side or front-to-back? That hat I’m talking about is what the average person would think of as being a "Captain’s Hat," but whether it just be incorrect Hollywood or not, I have seen many times where the hat is rotated 90 degrees from what I thought was the normal way to wear it.

    Because they are weird!

Does anyone know what size a medium would be?
