What is the proper way to clean a hat or a ball cap?
I have hats and they get worn out and eventually I wash them in the washer which tears them up and I only wear those for cutting the grass. I feel like there has to be a cleaner I can hand wash in or something.

In the dishwasher —no kidding! And wash several at the same time to save water and energy. Put any dirty cotton or washable wool cap on the top rack, secure it by using several plastic clothespins, add the normal amount of dishwasher detergent, and run through a regular wash and rinse cycle. Remove the cap before the drying cycle and place over a large coffee can so it keeps its shape while air-drying.
You can also use a baseball cap form (available at sporting-goods stores) for washing and drying, either in the dishwasher or the washing machine.
sooner or later the moisture gets to your hats. I used to use a damp washcloth to give my husbands hats a quick cleaning now I use baby wipes which is much better. Go for naturally scented or coco butter to get the stank out of your hats.

What you need is a frame that you buy that is the same shape as a hat….you get them from any department store or store that specializes in hats. It helps the hat keep its shape. They are made of plastic and are not expensive but really do lengthen the life of yor ball caps.
